How Technology Is Transforming Logistics

Saving Delivery and Time Costs
The ongoing replacement of human workers and vehicles with automated systems have begun to save a substantial amount of time for business and their operations. In the logistics sector, drones have slowly phased out human interference, projecting to reduce costs by up to 70% as the savings per parcel are summed up. The speed at which drones have successfully delivered have been recorded to be roughly on par or faster than traditional methods. It is predicted that at the current rate of development for this technology, there will be an increasingly large performance margin where drones will outperform traditional delivery methods such as vehicles, bicycles and on-foot delivery.
Implementation in Multiple Business Sectors
Business sectors such as restaurants, transportation and logistic industries have been eagerly implementing autonomous delivery systems into daily operations. There are popular robots such as Pudubot, Bellabot and Amazon Prime Air that are capable of assisting with inventory and delivery services, slowly phasing out human employees. Pudubot has integrated SLAM technology into their systems using a combination of Lidar, Camera, RGBD, sensors and other hardware to aid in environmental perception and obstacle avoidance which are two crucial factors in the accessibility of delivery robots. Bellabot is a similar restaurant-oriented bot with similar functionality to Pudubot. Amazon Prime Air has been active in last-mile delivery which have successfully delivered parcels at a performance rivaling traditional delivery methods. There is a current weight restriction that the drones can handle, but can be developed later in the future to hold higher weight capacities.
