Impact on Food Industry & Delivery Ecosystem

Shake Shack and Serve Robotics

Shake Shack and Serve Robotics have been working together to use autonomous sidewalk robots for Uber Eats deliveries within select Los Angeles locations. Serve Robotics, an NVIDIA-backed startup, has plans to scale their technology to 2,000 active robots by 2025 in hopes to commercialize their low-emission autonomous robots. These robots are active 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. serving consumers on Uber Eats.

DoorDash and Coco

DoorDash has launched their delivery service Coco in Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and Finland. Coco Robotics, founded in 2020, have produced 1,000 active robots and have tracked to over 1,000,000 miles. They have also recently raised $80M in order to scale their fleet of delivery robots, aiming to have 10,000 robots active by 2026. Customers are able to choose the robot delivery option across hundreds of participating merchants. Their partnership with DoorDash has found great success with over 100,000 deliveries.

Walmart and Wing

Walmart has been drastically expanding their drone delivery network with Wing (Alphabet's drone service) to serve 100 additional US stores and millions of homes with 30-minute deliveries. This step has made them the largest drone delivery network in the US. Wing is currently operating in the Dallas/Fort-Worth area and has plans to expand to major cities like Charlotte, Houston, Atlanta and many more on the east coast.

These technologies have the capability for ultra-fast deliveries and are constantly redefining consumer expectations in how they receive their goods from restaurant meals to everyday essentials at the convenience of their own location.
